1. Minimum Age Requirement

Tatty Issues adheres strictly to Victorian law, which prohibits tattooing anyone under the age of 18, even with parental or guardian consent. All clients must present valid government-issued photo identification (e.g. driver’s license, passport, proof of age card) before any procedure. No ID = No Tattoo. Fake or fraudulent IDs will result in a permanent ban from our studio.

2. Appointment Booking and Deposit Terms

Applies to all bookings made online, by phone, email, or in person at Tatty Issues.

Booking & Deposits

  • All appointments require a non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. This confirms your time slot and covers the artist’s preparation and design time
  • Deposits are credited toward the final cost of your tattoo and are non-transferable between clients or sessions unless otherwise agreed.
  • For multi-session tattoos (e.g. sleeves, large back pieces), your deposit rolls over and is deducted at your final session.
     

Rescheduling & Cancellations

  • Appointments may be rescheduled up to 48 hours in advance without penalty. Short-notice reschedules (less than 48 hours) will result in deposit forfeiture.
  • A maximum of two reschedules per booking is permitted. Further changes may require a new deposit or may result in future bookings being declined.
     

Late Arrivals

  • Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may:
    • Have their appointment shortened.
    • Forfeit their appointment and deposit, at the artist’s discretion based on daily schedule impact.
  • Please notify us as early as possible if you are running late. While we will do our best to accommodate you, lateness affects other clients and studio operations.
     

Artist Changes

  • Although we try to ensure continuity, artist availability is not guaranteed due to personal emergencies, illness, or other unforeseen events.
  • If your assigned artist becomes unavailable:
    • We will notify you as early as possible.
    • You may choose to reschedule with the same artist, transfer to another available artist, or retain your deposit for future use.
  • Design ownership remains with the studio and is not transferable if you choose not to proceed with another artist.

3. Payment Terms

Payment is due in full at the time of service. We accept:

  • Cash
  • Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard)
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Afterpay
  • Bank transfer
  • Gift cards
     

We do not accept cheques. Pricing is based on the time, size, detail, and placement of the tattoo and is quoted accordingly. Prices are non-negotiable. Tattoos are custom services. Fees for time spent, setup, and design are not refundable.

If a session must stop due to client lateness, illness, intoxication, or non-disclosure, fees already incurred are payable.

4. Gift Vouchers

 Tatty Issues gift vouchers:

  • Are valid for 12 months from the issue date
  • Must be presented at the time of booking
  • Are non-refundable and non-redeemable for cash
  • Can be used towards services only, not products or merchandise 
  • Cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.
  • Bookings made with gift vouchers are still subject to our Booking and Deposit policies.

5. Custom Design Ownership

All custom tattoo designs created at Tatty Issues are the intellectual property of our artists and may not be copied, used, or taken to other studios.

  • Designs are shown on the day of your appointment.
  • We allow up to 2 minor design edits during the consultation phase. 
  • If you do not attend your appointment, the design remains our property and will not be released.

6. Studio Hygiene and Safety

We operate in compliance with the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019 (VIC) and maintain the highest standards of hygiene:

  • All needles and tubes are single-use and disposed of in biohazard containers.
  • All surfaces are disinfected between clients.
  • Artists wear medical-grade gloves, face masks, and aprons where required.
  • Equipment is cleaned in accordance with Council Health Department guidelines and regularly inspected.

7. Client Health Conditions

You must complete our consent and medical questionnaire before tattooing. 

 Clients must disclose any of the following prior to their appointment:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Blood-borne viruses (HIV, Hepatitis B/C)
  • Diabetes or epilepsy
  • Allergies (especially to latex, ink pigments, antiseptics)
  • Skin conditions (e.g. psoriasis, eczema)
  •  If you are unwell, pregnant, nursing, on blood-thinning medication, or have conditions that affect healing, tell us before booking.

We may require a doctor’s clearance or may decline service for health and safety reasons.

8. Right to Refuse Service

Tatty Issues reserves the right to refuse service to anyone:

  • Who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Who fails to present valid ID
  • Who is disrespectful, aggressive, or abusive
  • Who refuses to follow health and safety instructions


We enforce a zero-tolerance policy on verbal or physical abuse.

9. Tattoo Aftercare

You will receive verbal and written aftercare instructions after your session. These include:

  • Keeping the area clean and moisturised
  • Avoiding direct sunlight, swimming, and excessive sweating
  • Not picking at scabs or peeling skin


Failure to follow aftercare may result in infection, fading, or scarring, which we are not liable for.

10. Complimentary Touch-Ups

We offer one complimentary touch-up within 3 months of your session (standard tattoos only).
Exclusions:

  • Tattoos on hands, feet, inner fingers, or ribs (prone to faster fading)
  • Tattoos not properly cared for (as per our aftercare policy)

11. Photos and Social Media Use

We love to showcase our work, but your privacy matters.

  • We may photograph your tattoo during and after the session for portfolio, education, and social media.
  • If you prefer not to be photographed, tell us before your appointment and we will respect your choice.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive license to use images of the tattoo we created on you. We will not publish your face without consent unless you request it.

12. Guest Policy

We allow one adult guest per client.

  • No guests in procedure areas unless approved by staff.
  • No children, babies, or pets allowed for hygiene and safety reasons.
  • Guests must also follow studio rules and etiquette.

13. Privacy Policy

  • We collect information you provide, including contact details, booking information, consent forms, medical disclosures, and photographs of your tattoo.
  • We use this to manage bookings, provide services, meet health and safety obligations, and communicate with you.
  • We store data securely and retain it only as long as necessary for legal and operational purposes.
  • You can request access or correction of your personal information by contacting admin@tattyissues.com.au
  • We do not sell personal information. We use third-party systems for bookings and payments that have their own privacy terms.

14. Terms of Service

  •  By booking, you agree to our policies and acknowledge that tattooing involves inherent risks including pain, bleeding, possible allergic reactions, and scarring.
  • Prices and estimates may change if the size, placement, or detail changes.
  • Intellectual property: designs remain the property of the artist unless otherwise agreed in writing. Personal use only, no reproduction for commercial use.
  • Limitation of liability as permitted by law.
  • Governing law: State of Victoria, Australia.

15. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

  • If something is not right, email contact@tattyissues.com.au with your name, booking date, and details.
  • We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and to propose a resolution within 10 business days.
  • If we cannot resolve your concern, information about consumer options is available through Consumer Affairs Victoria.
